Haircut is scheduled

So I've told you my hair is really long. Mitch was telling the kids at dinner the other night that I was cutting my hair short and donating the long hair to Locks of Love.
Max looks at me skeptical. "How short is short?" he asks. I said to my chin, showing him where my hair would come. He, still scrutinizing me, shrugs and says "well, you'll know if it's ugly." I guess I'll know because he will tell me?? You can count on the kids for honesty at this age at least.

Too much movement...

I'm dying about that airport story! That's so funny. I'm doing a test with baby connor. I'm trying to get a perfect profile shot so I can do an old school black silohuette of him. (like shown....totally a rough draft. it's super jenky and I didn't get eyelashes. Let me know if you want these of your kids.) Help! He won't sit still. And look at his Squiggy widow's peak! He can totally crawl awesome. But after every few steps he does this and tries to stand up. Crazy.

Snow Day

Mitch & Max flew to Reno to go to a team race in Tahoe this weekend. All was going well until the Reno airport closed down & cancelled all flights yesterday late afternoon. Mitch calls me to tell me this after they have been at the airport for hours waiting for their then "delayed" flight. He calls Southwest to rebook while others scramble to the ticket counter. So I don't hear from him for a while, I call him back - no answer - I know his phone is low on battery power. I call Max, he answers and tells me "we're not going to make it Mom. Our flight is cancelled but we saw someone we know."

Through cryptic 9 year old info. I find out they have miracuoulsy run into a friend of ours who now lives in Reno. Maureen O'Brien. We haven't seen her in YEARS! Not since she's been married, had two kids, and moved to Reno. But we do exchange Christmas card every year. She still consults in Palo Alto and was trying to fly to the Bay Area for a meeting on Monday morning. She takes Mitch, Max, another ski team dad and his twin 12 year-old boys to her house! They all sleep there and spent today with her & her family!

They're back at the airport now and should (fingers crossed) arrive tonight at 8:10. So much for the easy flight up to Tahoe....

Burping is Classy in our House

So it's my turn to post or this is going to be all about Emilie and her kids. We just had a 4-day weekend and I'm excited the kids are back in school tomorrow. If you know what I mean? I accidentally burped (because I never do) tonight and Olivia said, "Your burp was classy, mom." Liam says "hi" to everyone and says "thank you" every time I give him anything. He even said it after I changed his diaper. Julia's personality is reminding me so much of Uncle Connor's. I think they came from the same place since they look alike too. She has done very well at the piano and recently played in front of all the third grade. Love my kids and they are the cutest, not Emilie's or Liz's.

Liz Test

I don't have a lot of time this is mostly a test.
Max has laryngitis! As you can imagine, it is very hard for him to NOT talk. So I don't think he's going to recover too quickly. He does have a race this weekend, so hopefully he'll be better by then.

And I really think my kids are the cutest...but I'm not sure how to get pics up

New Discovery

While Katie was at school Thursday, and Connor was asleep, I decided to try to take a nap instead of cleaning or working. While I was laying down, I turned the TV on just to check out daytime TV. We don't have cable, so the TV hasn't been on in the middle of the day for what feels like years. The only thing that was on that wasn't a soap or Montel, was Matlock. It was freakin' awesome and I watched the whole thing and never went to sleep. Who knew?? It's like family friendly Law & Order. I may watch it again on purpose sometime.
